Blues, Violets and Lullabies?
In between diaper changes and breastfeeding, I found a little time to do a quick colorful look while listening to lullabies with the baby. Now that she is 3 weeks old and we have more or less settled in I plan to continue bringing lots of looks for all of you to recreate at home.

Enchanting Earth Tones
For this look I wanted to create a night look with earth tones that although simple, exuded elegance and glamour. I love how the berry lips contrast with the earthy eyeshadows. I used the Kat Von D Ludwig palette (the review for it is in the previous post.) Scroll down for a list of products used and a Slideshow.

Featured Bride- Neith G.
This gorgeous bride did not need much to look beautiful on her wedding day. I made her alluring eyes the focal point by using soft golds and browns and a very subtle winged liner. I applied false lashes with a technique that blends them with the natural lashes so that they are not obvious. Shimmery white eyeliner on her waterline was the final touch to make her eyes pop even more.

أميرة عربيّة
The Arabic Makeup style is all about the eyes. Make sure you line the eyes in an exaggerated way and use vibrant eyeshadow colors that will stand out. The brows are also dramatized and filled in to appear fuller. It also helps if you have a model of Arabic descent :) This is clearly an extravagant look, but you can make it wearable by using less eyeliner and less glitter and obviously don't go out with dots all over your forehead. :)
This makeup was done using airbrush and also pigments. The list of products used is too long to post, but if you want it, then just email me or comment.

Review- LORAC Box Office Sensation
Time for another review!
A lot of you have emailed me telling me you love the product reviews, because they help you decide what makeup to buy. As a treat for you, there are a few product reviews coming up on the blog, but today I will be reviewing the LORAC Box Office Sensation.
The "Box" includes 36 eyeshadows, 9 lip glosses, and 4 blushes. All for the price of $56! Sounds good right? Well, don't run off to buy it before reading my review, because I ended up returning it.
I purchased this palette for my personal makeup kit, not my Pro kit. I wanted it for day to day use, nothing major. Unfortunately the eyeshadows were very sheer and had little color payoff, in fact I prefer my NYX eyeshadows to these any day. Believe me when I say that I tried really hard to like this makeup. I tried all types of application techniques and brushes, but overall it took so much effort to get the look I desired, that I just became frustrated. I like eyeshadows that I can work with and blend easily and that I don't have to apply over and over again to get a nice intensity, and these just did not make the cut.
The box seems huge in the picture, but in reality it is a small box of tiny eyeshadows. Basically, the pretty packaging may fool you into purchasing this, but in my humble opinion, the quality of the product is not the greatest. I do recommend this for those of you that are beginners and starting to apply makeup, because since the colors are more on the sheer side, they make it easier to learn and you will not make as many mistakes. This Box would also be perfect for my more mature readers, since they usually prefer a sheer and natural look.
If you want to try this product for yourself, go to a Sephora store near you. Remember that my reviews are simply my personal opinions on the products and I don't want to discourage you in any way from trying them for yourself. We all have different makeup needs and what may work for me, may not necessarily work for you and vice versa.

Tutorial- How to fill in your brows
Hello Makeup Friends,
This tutorial was specifically requested by blog reader Patty. She wants to know how to fill in her brows and make them look fuller, but natural.
If you do research on the internet, you will notice that each makeup artist has their own technique for this and if you have already learned a way that works for you, then by all means don't change it on my account.
This is just the way that I have learned to do it and after many years and many different faces, I find that this gives the most natural results. WARNING this is a very detailed and long post with lots of information, so grab a cup of coffee or tea and enjoy.

Country Singer- Jackie Arredondo
During the MFA event I had the opportunity to do the makeup for country singer Jackie Arredondo. I'm sure most of you have heard her hit single "Someone Like You."

My Favorite Makeup Artists
A list of the makeup artists that have inspired me to do what I do. They are great at what they do and each have different techniques that work to create amazing results.
The first Makeup Artist that I read and studied and LOVED was the one and Only Kevyn Aucoin. My first Makeup book was his Making Faces, a must have for any makeup fanatic. I got the book when I was around 13 and I still try to read it and look through it every year. His book is not only a book that teaches about makeup, but it also has touching stories and life lessons within it's pages. Sadly, he passed away years ago, but his legacy continues with his books and his luxury makeup line.

Blue Again?
I guess it's no secret by now that I love blue. What can I say? I have a soft spot for blue eyeshadows. Here we have a blue smokey eye. Remember to keep the rest of your makeup light and natural when wearing blue so that you don't end up looking like you time traveled from the 80s. :)

Navy and White Look
Here is another easy makeup look that you can try to do yourself. You just need a Navy Blue eyeliner -I used Urban Decay 24/7 liner in Binge- a dark blue eyeshadow, and shimmery white eyeshadow. Those are the only three colors I used to create this look. I also used a blue mascara on the bottom lashes and a black one on the top lashes. Remember, it's all about blending to create that smoldered effect.
P.S. Navy blue is a great color for brown eyes. It brings out the warmth in the color.

Prom Look- Valentina
May is the month of Proms all around South Florida. Girls want to look extra special on this day and they buy a beautiful dress, get their hair done, and finally they want a gorgeous makeup look so that they can look flawless in all their pictures.
Here we have an example of prom makeup. Valentina just attended her Senior Prom this past weekend and she hired me to do her makeup. She wanted to look like herself, but with a little bit of drama. We decided to go for a gold, bronze, and brown smokey eye and pink nude lips. I used highlighters and bronzers to give a youthful "glow from within" look to her skin. Here is her final look:

Lash Extensions
Lash extensions are false lashes that are applied one by one to the eye. When done correctly and with the right (permanent) glue, they can last anywhere from a few days to even a few weeks, depending on how you take care of them. I dont recommend you try this at home because the professional glue is hard to use and very irritating to the eye. Go to a licensed makeup artist or skin care specialist if you want lash extensions because we have been properly trained.Beware of some salons that use hair extension glue to apply the individual lashes promising they will last for a long time, this is really dangerous and can even cause you to loose your natural lashes and you can get eye infections (yuck.) Scroll down for pictures and more information.

I created this look using mostly NYX products. I love the NYX brand, it is inexpensive and the quality is comparable to the more expensive brands. I highly recommend it. All of the products used from NYX were less than $6 each. You can't beat that price and such good quality!

Green Envy
Green is a fantastic color for those with Reddish-Brown eyes and also Hazel eyes. Since green is a complementary color to red on the color wheel, it really brings out the warmth in the eye color.
Tips:
When wearing a bright color on your eyes, make sure that you avoid any shimmer on your brow bone, use a matte highlight instead.
NEVER bring the color all the way to your brows, this is too dramatic and it is best reserved for stage makeup.
Make sure you blend out the eyeliner to create a smokey effect and so there are no harsh lines.
Keep the rest of your face subtle so that all the attention will be on your eyes.
The best lipstick colors that complement green eyeshadow are: pinks, nudes, and peachy tones.
Most importantly, Have fun! Makeup is supposed to be an art form, if you make a mistake, just remove it and start over!
I hope these tips will help you create your own version of this look. :)
PS. Scroll down to the end for a complete list of products used.

Glam Look- 1950s Classic Look
This is one of my go to looks for special occasions. I love 1950's style makeup. The winged eye paired with red Lips is something that never goes out of style.
Yes, you too can wear red lipstick! Everyone can, you just need to find the right shade for you.
I custom made this shade using my Makeup Forever Flash Color Case. I mixed several shades together with the bright red in order to create a color that would compliment my skin tone.
For those of you trying this look at home, you can just purchase a few different inexpensive red lipsticks and mix them together until you find a shade that makes your skin stand out. It's all about trial and error.
