Modern 60's Inspired- Yellow

I have been obsessed with 60's fashion and makeup lately. I guess I can blame it on Mad Men, but the truth is I have always loved all things retro. The clothes, the style, the makeup, everything was just so much more exciting than now! When it comes to work, I give the client what she wants, which lately has been what I like to call "the Kim Kardashian" look: Smokey eyes, bronzed cheeks, and glossy nude lips.

When it comes to my personal style, I tend to stick to either Pinup style makeup, or Mod 60's makeup. Maybe I should be more adventurous and wear more color, but I find this retro style of makeup not only easy to achieve, but also flattering on me, so I end up wearing it more often than not. For this particular look, I used a bright yellow color to make it more suited for spring. I love how it came out.  Here is the look:

Modern 60's Inspired Makeup

I haven't done a makeup tutorial in a while, it's been too long. I have a toddler running around the house, which leaves me with very little time to write. May I add, my daughter who is only 16 months, is already showing interest in makeup. She loves to use my brushes to give makeovers to anyone willing! It's too cute. I've had this makeup look saved on my computer, for a couple of months now, and today I am finally writing a tutorial. Keep reading for a tutorial.

This is a 60's inspired makeup look that can be worn without looking like you stepped off a time machine. I added a bright pink lip to give it a more modern and fun feel.

Tutorial: Fall 2011 Look- Inspired by Beyonce

Hello my dear makeup friends!
Oh how I have missed this blog! I know it has been a while since I have posted, but I am back. I have been super busy in both my professional life and my personal life. Between motherhood, purchasing and remodeling a new house, going back into the workforce, and a million other things, I have abandoned my blog. Eleni has been holding down the fort while I was gone, and she has done a fabulous job. I know you all enjoyed her super cute looks. Okay, enough with the blabber, I know you will forgive me. I finally took pictures of a look and I can't wait to share it with you.

I, along with probably all makeup bloggers out there, fell in love with the makeup looks in Beyonce's new video "Countdown." Here is my own version of one of the looks in the video. I used colors that compliment my complexion, so don't expect an exact copy, this is just inspired by it.

Here is the look I'm talking about:
It's retro, fresh, and cute! What's not to love?

Bohemian Summer Shoot

I had the pleasure of working as a Makeup Artist and Hairstylist on a Bohemian/African Tribe inspired photo shoot recently. I love what I do, and recently I have found another passion of mine, and that is styling the overall theme and also wardrobe for shoots. For this Particular shoot I worked together with Owl Garden Styling to come up with these three different outfits complete with Jewerly, Makeup and Hair.

The pictures of this shoot were taken by photographer Diana Santisteban. To view more of her work visit her website at: www.dianasantisteban.com

Reader Requested- Modern Pinup for Spring

Hello Readers,
I know I have not posted a new look for a few weeks, but I have been so busy applying makeup on others, that I hadn't found the time to log on and post. I missed you all!
As requested by blog reader Glamorosa, here is an easy daytime pinup look. This makeup looks great and is very in for Spring and it does not have to be reserved for special events like the more dramatic looks. It's an electric blue liner, paired with a vibrant red lip. This look is very simple to achieve, just follow my instructions for the Pinup look, but use a bright liner instead and skip the lashes. Read on for Products used.

Spring Look- Pink and Violet Surprise!

This is the 2nd look for the spring series. This one is also bright and colorful, but I used a different style and color combo. I used frosty pink, violet, and deep purple, but the surprise is that I added a pop of ocean blue. I really like how all the colors look together. To finish off the look, I added a bright Pink lip stick and gloss. I have to say this is one of my favorite looks I have done in a while. I got lots of compliments on my makeup that day. Try it yourself and maybe you will get compliments too! Enjoy :)

Classic Pinup/ Old Hollywood

This post is a treat for those of you that have emailed and posted comments requesting another Pinup look. I adore the 1950s era, not only for the movies, but for the clothing, makeup and overall style of the time period. This look is my go to look for pretty much any type of fancy or formal event.

The Pinup look is actually one of the fastest looks to achieve and I will show you how to do it in this tutorial.

أميرة عربيّة

The Arabic Makeup style is all about the eyes. Make sure you line the eyes in an exaggerated way and use vibrant eyeshadow colors that will stand out. The brows are also dramatized and filled in to appear fuller. It also helps if you have a model of Arabic descent :) This is clearly an extravagant look, but you can make it wearable by using less eyeliner and less glitter and obviously don't go out with dots all over your forehead.  :)

This makeup was done using airbrush and also pigments. The list of products used is too long to post, but if you want it, then just email me or comment.

This look will be divided into several posts due to the large amount of pictures. Enjoy :)

Glam Look- 1950s Classic Look

This is one of my go to looks for special occasions. I love 1950's style makeup. The winged eye paired with red Lips is something that never goes out of style.
Yes, you too can wear red lipstick! Everyone can, you just need to find the right shade for you.
I custom made this shade using my Makeup Forever Flash Color Case. I mixed several shades together with the bright red in order to create a color that would compliment my skin tone.

For those of you trying this look at home, you can just purchase a few different inexpensive red lipsticks and mix them together until you find a shade that makes your skin stand out. It's all about trial and error.
